Specifically, all of a sudden, looking at the arp cache reveals that my server thinks that a printer is now the default gateway. Not the IP address mind you, just the arp entry. Checking the arp entry, I found that it was a network printer elsewhere in the office. I turn that printer off, and life is good. It would appear that somehow the server is receiving what it believes to be a proxy arp from the printer on behalf of the default gateway. Still working with Microsoft to find an answer to this.

The ones that worked for me was to change the power options for battery lenght to maximum which really limits my battery time and stopping phising in McAffee. Now it flies. I was ready to throw this laptop out the window. Hours on the phone with Dell tech support and with Comcast with no solution.

That is when I first noticed that I was getting "Server Not Found" errors frequently happened using both Firefox and IE for me , DVD's and CD's would cut off halfway through using Windows Media Player, videos and music on YouTube and other sites would stop playing halfway through and then continue only to stop frequently, and online streams would continuously stop and start.
I originally thought it was the ISP and called them to come out. The guy came out and tested on his own laptop and his worked fine. When he tested mine he said that packets were being dropped continuously. I tried uninstalling Firefox, cutting off my phishing utility for McAfee Security Center and a host of other suggestions found on a host of sites and nothing seemed to work for me.
Does anyone know what the true cause of this problem is? Do the folks at Windows even know? I didn't change any settings on anything that I can remember but I suspect that my problem started after I allowed a Microsoft update to update automatically.
My problem seemed to get steadily worse from there. Does anyone know the true answer to this issue?
